TO KIMM

To Kimm

While you’re getting your legs waxed

I’ll write a poem to your legs

While you’re singing the sensuous

I’ll change to the one about your mouth

And while you discuss the dialectic of poesie

en practice et theorie

I’ll write the one about the brilliance of your breath

            mind-body connect

Perhaps one day all these poems will come together

            as a single poem

Something near my earlobe buzzes that may take

            a long long time

To pick up the pieces of yourself you leave

            scattered about

Big job, lots of fun, advertised in today’s paper,

I apply, somehow get the job

I write ‘em but leave ‘em

Great historical finds for paleontologists of the future

Right now sign of time’s timelessness
