Westmoreland County Virginia is rich in history. From the early days of the Powhatan Indians and Captain John Smith, to the birthplace of our country’s first president; George Washington, to the family plantation of Robert E. Lee; Westmoreland County is crawling with history. The problem is that history is so OLD! We found that our local history was locked away in dusty books, old museums, rusty road side markers, and aging oral historians. That is where Project H.I.S.T.O.R.Y. steps in.
